Excellent Compost Bin
The inside is smooth without any ridges or crevices for food to get stuck in and therefore easy to clean. Keeps smells in. Lid comes completely off so it is easy to dump out. The lid also doesn’t latch so it’s easy to bump it up with the same hand holding your food scraps so you can put them in. Sturdy. Looks good.

Simply the Best
As the saying goes, the third time’s a charm. It’s sturdy, a good size, easy to use, and clean. No more struggling to remove a full bag as the top piece lifts off easily. It seals in any odors and looks fine on the countertop.By far the best compost bin I’ve used. As always, XOXO delivers a quality and user-friendly product.

Well thought-out…nice look and great function
I’ve tried so many compost bins – this one is by far the best. The lid is great, just lift it with one finger and it stays in place. My green bag positions under the rim of the lid, so it stays in place and does not interfere with how well the lid closes. Using the bag, it requires minimal cleaning. The size is not excessive, but sufficiently large to hold quite a lot of discarded bits.

Great compost bin
We’ve had this for a year and it’s by far the best compost bin we’ve ever bought. When the lid is completely closed and sealed, you can’t smell or see the compost, which is what I really want in a bin. I have a sensitive nose to rotting fruit and can’t ever smell it coming from the compost bin now. Bonus points for no flies swarming around this when the weather heats up, like with other bins that have open tops to aerate the compost (you really do not need to do that in your house, a few days with a closed lid will not ruin compostable material).My partner throws some baking soda in the bottom of the bin, as it can stink between bags (we put it in the dishwasher about twice a month). We typically remove the green bag and take the trash out, though the handle is sturdy enough to cover the walk.Overall, this is again a really nicely designed kitchen tool from Oxo.

Compact Bin That Handles More Than Compost
I picked this up as a kitchen compost bin, but it’s turned into my go-to bucket for DIY projects, as I toss masking tape, paint scraps, old caulk, and other small waste in here, and it handles it without issue. The smooth interior wipes clean easily, the lid flips open and stays put, and the handle makes emptying simple.At 0.75 gallons, the size is ideal—it keeps clutter contained without taking over the counter or workspace. PERFECT – YOU REALLY NEED ONE OF THESE
Living in NYC, our building now has very strict composting protocols and our building (yes, building, not only the city) is imposing fines on people incorrectly disposing of garbage. So despite living in an apartment, we have had to adapt to storing biodegradable waste. Despite frustration and fury at the prospect, I bought the larger of these two containers and can’t say enough good things about it. I love the size, the lid, the capacity, the material it’s made of, the handle – the list goes on. It’s perfect for city living. It’s easily washable, no odors in the kitchen. There isn’t a single thing I don’t like about this product. As much as I dreaded adapting to it, segregating bio/wet waste has become a breeze. Thank you to the previous posters who recommended buying the larger of the two sizes because in terms of counter space it’s not much difference and the larger size is just right.

Exactly what we needed
Our village recently added composting to our garbage pickup to keep compostable materials out of the landfill. While they provided a large bin that we keep outside, we needed something small to keep in the kitchen to hold compostable material temporarily. This has worked out perfectly for us. It’s large enough that it can hold over a days worth and easily fits on our kitchen counter. The lid easily stays open while scooping in scraps and closes with just a tap, and sturdy handle makes it easy to carry to the big bin, and it’s easy to clean. While this will work well with compostable bags, we’ve been using it bagless. So far we haven’t had any issues with odor or bugs, but we tend to empty it out and rinse it out at least every other day, so nothing really stays long enough to cause a problem. This has helped us make a smooth transition to separating our compostable material instead of using the garbage disposal or putting it in our normal trash.
