A New Way to Have Fun with the Arduino
Arduino has come up with a supercharged version of the UNO and a plug-and-play technology to add modules. The plug-and-play makes it quick and easy to add new hardware to the Arduino. The Arduino UNO R4 WiFi adds a plethora of capability including WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 8×12 on-board led matrix. But be forewarned, the initial software setup of the new Arduino still requires a number of installation steps with the Arduino IDE. The documentation is excellent, so be sure to follow it carefully. You only have to do it once and then you are free to try out all the example programs (“sketches”). Push those buttons, light those lights, and many more. Have fun.

Cool kit with a bunch of learning opportunities.
Kits like this are great because of how easy they make it to learn. This comes with an Arduino UNO R4 WiFi, USB-C cable for power, 7 additional boards, cables to connect them, a base board to set them up on, and a decent amount of hardware for setting everything up on the base board. The Arduino Cloud integration is pretty cool and I don’t think it’s a terrible deal but I am getting pretty burnt out on all these monthly subscriptions. There is a free option and I think that’s fine with the features they give. You don’t even need to use it at all. I’m pretty new to this so I went ahead and used the free Cloud option and I think that a lot of new folks will be better off using that. Once you get the hang of it, then you can bypass the cloud altogether and really get deep in the weeds. I think if you’re already at a point where you don’t need the ease provided by the cloud, you’re already at a level where this kit doesn’t hold the same value. What I liked about it: Great starter kit. What I didn’t like: Cloud subscription service is just one more monthly fee.Overall, I recommend this kit for beginners.

Was a great gift
Was exactly what my husband wanted. I wish I could say more but it is his gift and he loves it. He is a veteran computer systems person and defined this purchase as his new toy.It was a hit ! Hence the five stars! Thanks Amazon!

don’t waste your time READ one star reviews FIRST!
I should have read the bad reviews first, but I didn’t. This kit, which is billed as “the easiest starter kit ever” is anything but. Maybe this one is a lemon. The plug-in-play components are a GREAT idea, this is just terrible execution. It does NOT come with any instructions (unlike their original starter kit), just a QR code that takes you to their website which makes you sign up for an account and then follow an online tutorial. At every step, the board either didn’t connect or the arduino site returned errors. Support is limited to the forums, which are full of people saying “i’m an IT professional and I can’t get this thing connected and it returns a different error code every time”. If experts struggle with it, it is NOT for beginners. From reading through the frustrated comments on the forums it also apparently requires you to subscribe monthly to their cloud service to use after a brief trial period? This was not made clear either…Every step of the process returned error codes. The troubleshooting docs pointed to in the forum included steps like “short these two pins using a jumper wire or a sharp pointy object while plugging it into your computer and download and run this file at the command line” (my computer gave a malware warning, at which point I gave up).I was super excited at the concept of the click together sensors for my kid, now we have wasted a long frustrating day of simply trying to get this thing working. Sending it back.

The people posting negative reviews should have done research before they bought the kit.
You do not have to sign for the Arduino Cloud. There is a free IDE download, for Windows, Mac and Linux. Have my Arduino connected to my ubuntu Linux laptop. I actually did the research before buying. Have you ever heard of Google Search?

As a Student i very much enjoyed learning electronics with the R3. But the Plug and Make just elevated the hell out of it with the modulinos. Now i got myself a carry able measurement device that sends and saves the distance between objects in the house so I can sketch things for them quickly.
