Andalou conditioner steals my heart…and my wallet gets a welcome break
I’ve struggled with my hair, actually fought brutally against it, from my early teens until my late forties, all because I didn’t understand its true nature: it wants to curl, to be long, unlayered, and otherwise left alone. It hates blow dryers, hates hot tools, despises bangs (I have way too many cowlicks in the front for that) and revolts against an attack upon its dignity with the thinning shears by turning into a four foot wide Christmas bush just to spite me for my failure to intuit how wrong it is to *ever* try to thin curly hair. (It is unspeakably wrong.)It flourishes when cleansed with a gentle shampoo without sulfates and soothed with a deeply moisturizing, nourishing conditioner. That’s really all it needs to look quite nice, which just happens to be the way it wants to go naturally. How I wish I understood this thirty years ago. (As an aside, you may notice in the picture that I have also made a decision to stop covering my gray. It was coming in like gangbusters and had become a never-ending, time-eating, costly battle; I couldn’t get the coverage to last even a month, and the colorant was turning my curls into something resembling a thrashed Brillo pad. So I decided enough was enough. Now, after about a year, I’m surprised to find I don’t mind the gray at all. It looks almost like highlights.)Another thing about my hair (and this goes for most curly peeps) is that doesn’t like to be shampooed more than twice a week, but a good conditioner will make it jump for joy any old time. It’s particularly moody when wet; it wants to be air dried *only*–even if it takes half the night–and during that process, it does not want to be touched. Don’t comb it, and for goodness sake don’t brush it, unless I want it to look like I’m cultivating a Blue Spruce on my head. I’m serious. I spent more than half my life believing I had hideous hag hair, because I keep doing things to it that were entirely against its grain. I just didn’t know how to care for it properly. *Sigh.* Well, better late than never.I should mention that I gleaned all of this insider info for curly girls from reading the Curly Girl Handbook (available on Amazon). I have departed, however, from the book’s first tenet of curly hair care–namely, the use of Deva Curl hair products. Not because they don’t perform (they do) but because 1.) Deva Curl is not entirely vegan (or even vegetarian) which is an important ethical change I’ve made with regard to my buying habits, and 2.) they’re way too expensive. For nearly eight months I’ve been searching and searching for a shampoo & conditioner duo that works for me ethically, and at the same time doesn’t require spending a hundred some-odd bucks every month on basic hair care. As much as I love having healthy bouncy glossy curls, that kind of money is painful to my wallet and, I really believe, excessive and unnecessary. It took me a while to see the light about this, but eventually I got there. Thus, I’m so, so, SO very happy and genuinely *Over the Moon* to report that with my discovery of Andalou shampoo & conditioner, I have *nailed* two essential hair care items that work for me in every way, both in terms of my purchasing ethics (Andalou is vegan *and” cruelty-free) as well as performance-wise: these products are every bit as good as Deva Curl–and, as hard as it may be to believe, the conditioner IMO is actually a skosh better, because you can get the same deeply moisturized, soft and shiny, gorgeous results using *far less*. That alone saves a ton of money, which means a great deal to me. What’s more, the fragrance is fresh and citrusy, whereas to me Deva Curl’s conditioner smelled like lemon pudding, something you might find on your lunch tray while you’re in the hospital. Who wants to smell like a pudding head? Yes, it’s a very good (very pricey) product, but the smell always bugged me.So, in summary, as of this moment there is no doubt in my mind that this will be my go-to, HG condish as long as Andalou keeps making it (as long as they don’t change it significantly–pssst: don’t mess with perfection, people). I’m completely and totally, 100% won over, heart and soul, and pocketbook. Yay Andalou.

Very healthy hair since using this
I don’t normally leave reviews but I’ve been using this on my hair for a least a month and it’s left it in incredibly good healthy shape. I am a big fan and will continue to purchase this product

Nice clean product
It’s what I expected, smells good and is a clean product. You have to use a lot with long hair to make it soft so instead I put some on my ends and didn’t rinse.

Favorite Conditioner
Softens my hair, leaves no smell on it, is easy to rinse out, made of natural ingredients . Checks all the boxes.

Finally a conditioner that works on my dry hair!
I’m using the shampoo and conditioner, which are both great. This review is for the conditioner. My hair is thin, fine, and naturally curly. I live in a dry climate, and in recent years, my hair has gotten frizzy, flat, and only slightly wavy, not curly, despite trying many shampoos and conditioners. None of them worked until this one. It works so well! My hair is now soft, curlier, no longer frizzy, and a pleasure to touch, the way it used to be.The ingredients are excellent as well, and my sensitive, dry skin is not adversely affected. The scent is a bit like an orange Starburst, but is faint enough that it shouldn’t bother you if smelling like citrus candy isn’t your cup of tea.

Delicious scent, moisturizing, but a hassle to dispense
This conditioner has a wonderful orange-vanilla scent and makes my dry, color treated hair feel soft.My only complaint is Andalou Naturals recently changed their product packaging from the clear, cheerful green & blue bottles to these generic looking bottles and did not take the opportunity to improve upon the product dispenser while they were making updates. The consistency of this conditioner is too thick to be using this type of dispenser. It’s hard to get product out, gets clogged easily, & since it can’t be stored upside down the conditioner isn’t ready to dispense when you need it.Overall I like this well enough that I occasionally reorder it because it smells delicious, it’s a decent conditioner and it’s reasonably priced here on Amazon as an add-on item

Very thick and creamy
This is my favorite conditioner for my long, thick hair that has become drier the last few years as more gray appears. This does a good job, especially with the tangles. I still need to use Marula or Argan oil in my hair to keep it from getting too dry but at least the Andalou softens my hair enough to make it easier to distribute the other oils more evenly while my hair is still wet, otherwise it’s almost impossible (I use a wide toothed rubber short bristled paddle brush). There is not much of a scent. One problem though is after using about a third of the bottle, it becomes very hard to squeeze out the conditioner, so I add some distilled water and shake it up. That works great and actually extends the time beyond when you would normally run out. The added water seems to emulsify right into the cream so it never thins it too much.

This was a repeat purchase. They don’t advertise aroma therapy but the scent is also quite relaxing.Leaves my hair feeling great and effects noticeable days later when I don’t use it

This conditioner is lovely. I can actually comb my hair straight through now without fighting with tangles. Leaves your hair soft and shiny. Only a small amount needed as well.

Love the smell and the way it makes my hair feel.
