I love this. No more stinky food in the garbage. The size is perfect. I can throw it in with my yard east and it is hauled away every week. Read up on your yard waste conytsiners, mine is compostable too.

Box showed blue but product was yellow
These composting containers are so useful. I love using them for vegetable and fruit peels. Plus they look nice in the kitchen. They are well made. I ordered a blue one; the blue showed a blue one but a yellow one was inside. It was well made and works just fine. The glitz on the color was not worth a concern so I kept it. My kitchen is far from color coordinated anyway.

I have had other expensive kitchen counter compost bins and this is by far the nicest one yet! It has a separate plastic pail inside the metal bin, which is very easy to clean. The plastic on the bin feels like a good quality, heavy plastic which I think will hold up well. The metal bin seems to be of good quality also. The lid does contain a filter which is nice to keep odors at bay and it comes with two additional replacement filters too. The bin also included a roll of recyclable plastic bags, which we will not be using, as we put the contains of the bin directly on our mulch pile outside. All the rigid components are washable and easy to clean. However, I wouldn’t recommend putting harsh chemicals, like bleach water or other “sanitizing” products on the metal bin to clean it. I think the harshness of the chemicals would deteriorate the outside finish (and inside). I wipe the outside bin down, but if I feel the need to really clean it, I will wash it in hot water with mild dish soap and dry it with a cloth or allow it to air dry. If I need to purchase another bin, I would purchase this same one! It is worth it and I highly recommend!

Great compost bin
This compost bin is awesome. I love that it is metal and won’t break. Our last one fell off the counter and broke. It is super easy to clean because the insert comes out. We keep a bag in it at all times so that it doesn’t get gross. I do wish it was a little bit bigger…simply because we have 4 kids and produce a lot of compost.

Looks really good, but has a couple problems
This compost bin is pretty; I love the dimpled metal finish and the retro yellow color. However, it has a few drawbacks that made it a “return” for me. The dimensions of the metal canister are as stated in the listing; but the inner plastic pail is a good bit smaller. I really needed the full diameter listed. Second, the lid has no way of staying on the bin if the plastic pail is not in it. It doesn’t fit into the metal bin at all. I don’t know why it was designed this way! Lastly, the metal is neither aluminum nor stainless steel, which means it will eventually rust when moisture gets inside it or if it’s left on a wet surface…two likely occurrences with a kitchen compost bin.On the plus side, it comes with a roll of 50 bags (it is not mentioned that they are compostable) and extra charcoal filters. It has a good handle, and looks nice on the counter. If the drawbacks I mentioned don’t matter to you, it seems like it would be a functional, attractive countertop compost bin.
